What is Spotcrime?

Spotcrime is an internet enabled 'Community Crime Watch' with extras.

Spotcrime uses Google Maps to help you find and join a real geographically based neighbourhood, and from that point on keeps you in touch with your neighbourhood about crimes and incidents and local crime awareness information.

Spotcrime is EASY to use:

Signup -> Join a neighbourhood -> Receive incident alerts by email.

If you are a victim or witness:

Login -> Add incident to the Map -> Email alerts sent to neighbours.

Spotcrime is a neighbourhood crime prevention and awareness network.

Use Spotcrime as an early warning system. Help your neighbourhood out by telling non-internet enabled residents about Spotcrime incidents you've read about.

Use Spotcrime to create a local network of people who care about individual safety and security in your area.

Spotcrime is a social network that wants to help you stay in touch with your local neighbourhood.

With Spotcrime you can create your own neighbourhoods. Create one for your local resident's association or Neighbourhood Watch Group. Invite people from outside to join your neighbourhood and watch it grow.

Use your neighbourhood's forum facility to talk to your neighbours.

Use your neighbourhood's noticeboard to post information to all your neighbours at once. The time of a meeting, or an observation about local crime.

What Spotcrime is NOT

All of the information on this site is provided by ordinary people like you.

When you spot an incident and report it here, you are providing a valuable community service.

Invite your friends, your family and your neighbours to join, by sending them invites via the Spotcrime site.

If you have friends who have been the victim of crime, enter their incidents for them (ask their permission first)

>Remember: if you witness a crime, are the victim of a crime, report it to the police.
